Books

  • Reference books are an excellent place to begin your research, as they provide a comprehensive topic overview and bibliographies for further reading. Feel free to ask a Marygrove librarian for help locating these resources.
  • To find books on your topic, search the Marygrove catalog. Tips for searching:
    • use quotation marks to search for an exact phrase. (Example: if you search for the phrase "united states" in quotation marks, your results will include this book: Sacrifice Zones: The front lines of toxic chemical exposure in the United States. Your search results will NOT include this book: A guide to picture sources in the United Mexican States).
    • use an asterisk (*) to search for every form of a word. (Example: if you search for mother* you will find books on mother, and also books on mothers, mothering, motherhood, etc).
    • use the "Limit by" dropdown menu on the right side of your results page to limit by location (stacks, reference room, reserves, etc) or material type (ebooks, DVDs, audio, etc).
    • use interlibrary loan to request a book owned by another library.
